Implementing the Program
Over 500,000 users have registered with us and over 1,500 Australian organisations have accessed our courses. On average there are more than 14,000 course completions per month. Organisations have successfully managed implementation by:
- running competitions between wards and/or units with a small prize to the winning group
- promotion for an entire month in a prominent place on the ward with whiteboard featuring posters and (interactive) displays
- using an enthusiastic ‘clinical champion’ to encourage and motivate staff
- providing dedicated time during working hours for access and completion
- reminding staff that they can access the BloodSafe eLearning Australia website from home as it gives staff time off the wards to complete their training uninterrupted
- promotion at Grand Rounds and education sessions, demonstrating the website interactivity, learner engagement and user friendliness
- promoting usage and uptake in hospital newsletters
- attaching brochures to staff payslips
- electronic promotion via email distribution
- making course completion a requirement for new staff prior to commencing paid employment
- giving existing staff a defined time frame to complete the course
- organisational endorsement for mandating the courses or certain courses for specific staff.
